A counselling approach that recognizes your significant knowledge and experience with living.
Approach
My name is Diana Morgan (MC, RCC), and I am a British Columbia based counsellor providing support to individuals and relationships.
I don’t know you or your experiences yet, but I am here and ready. You can expect me to:
Listen deeply
Hold your stories with care
Respect your significant knowledge and experience with living
Collaborate with you to open up possibilities regarding the problems or concerns you bring to counselling
Together we co-create an open, transparent relationship shaped by your needs and preferences. Together we engage in therapeutic conversations that open up possibilities for you. This exploration unfolds primarily within a Narrative Therapy approach.
If you are interested in counselling that is:
Relational
Collaborative
Creative
Non-blaming
Anti-oppressive and decolonizing
Trauma-informed
…then let’s have an initial chat to see if we might like to work together.
Open up possibilities
Bio
I was born and raised on the prairies in a large family. My German immigrant father and Polish/Ukranian mother nurtured a love of learning that connected well with my curious nature. I delight in difference and diversity, informed by my own experiences of stepping beyond other’s expectations in order to be authentic. My broad lived experience and encounters with problems of various kinds inform my ability to sit with you and hear your stories no matter how difficult they are.
I hold a Master of Counselling degree and the designation of Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors. I have advanced training in Narrative Therapy and my commitment to learning is ongoing. Ethics are embedded in every aspect of my work, and I engage regularly in peer supervision. I am an Associate Faculty member in the Master of Counselling Program at City University.
Reconciliation with Indigenous peoples is important to me and includes 8+ years working in Indigenous health to address structural racism and inequities.
I am committed to continuing my learning about the legacy of racism and colonialism, to being thoughtful and reflective about power and privilege, and doing what I can to transform the systems and processes that enable ongoing harm.
I respectfully acknowledge that I am an univited guest on the traditional, unceded (stolen) territories of the Coast Salish peoples, including the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
